NSW Ambulance Training
Each year, over 42,000 hours of training are delivered at The ACE Training Centre to ensure NSW Ambulance Doctors, Critical Care Paramedics, and Flight Nurses maintain peak clinical, aviation, and rescue readiness.
Ab Initio Training provides the initial, foundational skills for aspiring NSW Ambulance helicopter doctors and paramedics, particularly those entering helicopter operations for the first time. The program comprises clinical simulations, specialist access training for remote and hazardous environments, rescue crew skills including winching, and helicopter safety aviation procedures aligned with CASA standards. The training program ensures they are mission-ready to provide world-class critical care in complex, high-risk settings across NSW and ACT.
The Helicopter Cyclic Training Program is a specialised, ongoing training initiative designed to facilitate consistently high levels of aeromedical competency in helicopter and road retrieval teams. Delivered through structured, centralised sessions, the program focuses on clinical competency aligned with NSW Health and NSW Ambulance frameworks, specialist access skills for remote and hazardous environments and aviation safety and crew operations in aeromedical settings. Each training block is tailored to ensure paramedics and doctors are equipped to deliver critical care in complex, high-risk scenarios with a strong emphasis on teamwork, safety, and continuous professional development.
