Enhance your safety and survival skills with our Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) and Emergency Breathing System (EBS) courses. Delivered by aviation safety experts at The ACE Training Centre, these nationally recognised units meet the regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and align with current Australian aviation industry standards.
Our training is ideal for personnel working in onshore aviation operations, emergency services, defence, and aeromedical sectors who are required to complete certified aircraft escape and survival training.

Course Overview
AVIF0048
Undertake aircraft underwater escape and survival (HUET)
Gain the practical skills and knowledge to prepare for and survive a helicopter ditching scenario, including:
- Emergency procedures for helicopter evacuation
- Underwater escape techniques
- Survival hazards and recovery processes
AVIF0049
Utilise emergency breathing systems (EBS)
Learn to safely operate an emergency breathing system, including:
- Preparing and donning an EBS
- Breathing techniques underwater
- Post-operation procedures
The EBS course can be attended individually or paired with HUET for a discounted rate (same-day bookings only).

HUET Course
Price: $1150.00 AUD (GST-free)
Outcome: Statement of Attainment in AVIF0048 Undertake aircraft underwater escape and survival
EBS Course
Can be scheduled on the same day as the HUET Course, or booked separately as standalone training for minimum 4 students.
Price: $600.00 AUD (GST-free)
Outcome: Statement of Attainment in AVIF0049 Utilise Emergency Breathing Systems
IMPORTANT: We recommend a 12-hour no-fly period following the EBS course.
HUET Course + EBS Course
Booking both courses on the same day will qualify you for a $150 discount off the EBS course fee.
Price: HUET $1150.00 AUD (GST-free) + EBS $450.00 AUD (GST-free) = Total $1600.00 AUD (GST-free)
Outcome: Statement of Attainment in AVIF0048 Undertake aircraft underwater escape and survival + AVIF0049 Utilise Emergency Breathing Systems
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be fluent in English (read, write, speak, listen)
- Be able to swim 15 metres and tread water for 60 seconds
- Be in good physical health (medical declaration required before training)
Doctor’s clearance may be required for some medical conditions.
What to Bring
Bring the following items to your training session:
- Swimmers
- Second set of clothes for in-water training (e.g. flight suit, jeans and shirt)
- Covered footwear for water use (e.g. old sneakers or wetsuit booties)
